Come along and hear from three local business owners; Nick Carey (Green Meadows Beef), James Annabell (Egmont Honey) and Tim Carrington (Egmont Cleaning) as they speak about how they started their own business and about the challenges and successes that come with owning your own business.
Nick Carey leads Green Meadows Beef, a family business founded in 2012 to process and market Angus beef from their farm in Coastal Taranaki. Today their business involves online sales, wholesale and supermarket distribution and corporate incentive programmes, with their products being delivered overnight nationwide.
Tim Carrington is the Managing Director of local businesses Carrington Recruitment and Egmont Cleaning. Tim has run his businesses since 2011. Tim doesn’t have a blueprint for his success, and due to his unique position of working with people who are looking for jobs, Tim is going to be talking about why people want to run their own business.
James has been in the honey industry for six years and until recently spent most of that time based in Hong Kong where he developed the Asian market for two of New Zealand's largest honey companies. After building up a significant number of bee hives with Toby Annabell, James decided to leave the more corporate companies to concentrate 100% of his time on developing the Egmont Honey brand and working with his private label customers.
